Young Adult Ministry (def): ministry with persons ages 18-35, single, married, college age, working, with and without children, on their own or living at home. Often this ministry happens at the gym, on FB, twitter, and even in a local congregation as adults explore their beliefs and wade into life. If the Disciples of Christ are a movement for wholeness in a fragemented world, then it will be this age group that give voice, hands, and finances to an emerging way of being a Christian and a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the 21st century.
The Young Adult Ministry team is a group that is part of the Commission for Children, Youth, and Young Adult Ministries. This group began conversations and dreaming in the spring of 2011 about the future of YA Ministry here in Oklahoma. What is possible, probably, and what can we be doing together? Are you interested in helping shape and lead a weekend retreat, study trip, or mission experience? Would you like to connect to other DOC YA groups near you?
