Welcome Oklahoma Disciples Men!

Fellow Disciple Men:

We all have our local Disciple Men / CMF organizations and we can, generally, be kept busy with them.   But, sometimes, we need to meet with other fellow Disciples to share ideas, concerns and just hear personally what other groups are doing.   Most of the men I have talked to at gatherings are full of enthusiasm for one project or another and you can see this enthusiasm spread as the men get together.   The gatherings become more than an “eat and greet” occasion - they become opportunities for spiritual renewal.   They become catalysts for spawning off ideas and rejuvenating those who are wavering in their commitment to follow Christ.   Always remember that we are to make “disciples of men” and not “workers of men”.   The relationship and bonding between disciples is all important. The work, then, should follow naturally.

We will have plenty of opportunities to meet and share from now until the end of the year.   Beyond our local and Area meets we can all plan to meet at the following scheduled events:

  1. The Annual Men’s Retreat set for Friday evening and Saturday morning, March 7-8 at the Central Christian Camp & Conference Center in Guthrie.   After our traditional steak dinner on Friday night we will be entertained by Gary Owen, a professional ventriloquist and humorist who will work interactively with the audience.   And, Rev. John McLemore, Senior Pastor of Central Christian Church in Enid will be our Keynote Speaker with two sessions of inspirational messages for men wanting to follow the teachings of Christ.   Our Worship Leader will be our Regional Pastor, Rev. Tom Jewell and music will be led by Inman Jones, our Central Area Representative.   This promises to be a great retreat that does not eat up the whole weekend.   It is a small commitment well worth your time and effort!   Click here for a download of the registration form.

  2. The Regional Assembly is set for April 24, 25 & 26 at Harvard Christian Church in Tulsa.   The theme is “A New Thing Springs Forth” and it promises to be a really good Assembly with lots of inspiring Sessions that you will be talking about long after this event is over.   And, remember to sign up for the Disciple Men Luncheon to be held at noon on Saturday.   Click here for the registration form.

  3. You might look at the previous two events as a warm-up for our all-important men’s gathering – Sessions 2008.   It is set for July 17-20, 2008 and will be hosted by Edmond First Christian Church.   You can click on the link or go to www.sessions2008.org to get more information, register on-line or download the registration form.   What is extremely important to remember is that this may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to Sessions without having to travel a longdistance.   Don’t let the opportunity pass you by.   And, remember, you need to register by May 1, 2008 to get the early-bird discounted registration fee.
So let’s all strive to expand our comfort zone, become involved as Disciple Men, and do the good works that Christ would have us do.

Meanwhile, I am willing to make trips to your Area and local meetings whenever possible.   Just contact me and send an invite!

Thanks for your support!

Yours in Christ,
Luke
