Oklahoma Disciples Men

Brian MeyerGreetings, Disciple Men,

Greetings Disciple Men, It's hard to believe that we are nearing the end of April, and some of those cold blustery days of Spring continue to hang on. A few days of the hot Oklahoma winds remind us that another change of season is just around the corner. It's also hard to believe that our annual men's retreat was almost two months ago. As I reflect back on the retreat, I am reminded in many ways of the awesome spirit and power of God that is present when we come together in community. What a blessing to share, encourage one another, worship, pray, laugh, cry, study, and just enjoy and appreciate one another and the unique gifts and abilities we all bring as part of the Body of Christ. I hope you appreciated as much as I did the powerful messages that Mark Briley brought us regarding the Healing of The Nations. Also, our entertainment provided by the Great Parsoni and his lovely assistant, the steak dinner, and who could forget those wonderful apple and cherry turnovers made by Dwight Weber and his wife were the icing on the cake. And finally, our communion on Saturday morning which brought everything to a perfect close. My sincere thanks to all of those who heled to make this retreat a success. Congratulations again to Dwight Weber and his crew from Yukon for having the most men there. The challenge is on for next year.

I trust you all had a Happy Easter as we celebrated with our families and congregations the resurrection and glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his triumph over death and the cross.

We are beginning a new study on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Central on spiritual gifts which is being led by our senior minister John McLemore. Disciple Men, we all possess unique and various gifts of which God has called us to use in our faithful service to him. As Romans 12:2 states: Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. I pray that we will remain faithful to that cause. To God be the glory. Have a safe and wonderful summer and don't forget the General Assembly the last of July in Indianapolis.

Serving with you for Christ,
Brian
