(Jan 21) Regional Youth Council Applications
The Regional Youth Council plans and leads several events for youth and adults in our Region. They are the Region's youth group. RYC represents our Region's youth at board meetings, commission meetings, and in their own youth groups and congregations. RYC is seeking youth that are solid leaders that are ready to join the team. RYC seeks rising juniors that can serve a 2 year term. Sometimes RYC selects seniors that will only serve a 1 year term. Click here to download the Youth Application. The application deadline is March 16.
RYC has a small group of adults that work as conversation partners and resource help for the youth that serve. RYC is currently seeking 2 more adults to join the team. Click here to download the Adult application. The application deadline is March 16.
(Jan 20) Camp Promotional Material Delayed to Friday, Jan 23
We apologize for the delay in camp promotional materials. The entire packet is not yet available though the dates have been set since last October. We are working on setting the final costs for each camp experience and look forward to having the entire Registration Guide in this space on Friday. Thanks for your patience.
(Jan 18) Cherokee Congregation Supports Summer Camp Program
Chi Rho Camp this summer will decrease in price, slightly, from last year. Why? The members of First Christian Church in Cherokee are paying the site fees for the 22 adults that will volunteer their time as counselors and directors. This means the Region will not have to pass along the site fee cost for the adults to the campers that attend Chi Rho Camp. Tom Stanley, pastor at FCC Cherokee, will be one of the volunteer counselors this year. The Region celebrates and is grateful for this witness and generous stewardship. To learn how you or your congregation can support the program ministries for Children, Youth, and Young Adults of the Region download the 2015 Funding Guide.
Heifer Chi Rho Week 2015
The Youth Ministry Team & the Summer Ministry Team are working on plans to offer Chi Rho age youth (grades 6-8) an opportunity to experience the Heifer Ranch in Arkansas next year, March 16-19. The trip will be limited to 20 Chi Rho youth. Currently, the teams are working on a cost and are seeking individual and group donations to help underwrite the expense of the trip for youth and the adults that give their time. For more information about how you could help with funding this trip for Chi Rho youth please connect with Rev. Michael Davison.
Ministry: Children, Youth, Young Adults
Your generous gifts to the Disciples Mission Fund or the Annual Fund help the Region connect congregations, but they do not underwrite the program ministries offered by the Region. DMF Funding and Annual Fund giving underwrites the operation of the Region (Disciples Center, staff salaries, benefits, and expenses, the Board and Commission work), but does not provide money for sponsoring the many events, retreats, and experiences of the program ministries offered by the Region. Please consider a gift or any size to support CYYA Ministries.
Each young person attending a summer ministry experience helps pay for the adult volunteers for that week. This fee is added to the campe fee and is based on the number of campers that attend and the number of adults needed. Funds raised for Summer Ministry could lower the cost for everyone that attends a camp in the future no matter where it may be hosted. Please consider a gift to support Summer Ministry and help us create funding to support this ongoing program ministry of the Region.
Are you considering a "legacy gift" to fund a ministry in your congregation or through the Region? The Oklahoma Disciples Foundation does this kind of work to support ministries throughout the Disciples of Christ in Oklahoma.
Make your check to Christian Church in Oklahoma and note in the memo line what program ministry you are supporting.
Mail To: 301 NW 36th Street / Oklahoma City, OK, 73118. Please indicate IAS, Youth Ministry, Children's Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, Heifer Week, or Summer Ministry in the memo line.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! Contact Rev. Michael Davison for more information about how you can support these missional ministries.
A Word from the Commission with Children, Youth,& Young Adults
The CYYA offers a variety of opportunities throughout the year for persons ages K-35 years old. CYYA Ministries in Oklahoma are evolving and growing into a future that includes age appropriate experiences and events beyond the summer months for our diverse age bracket. We need two things: adult volunteers and funding. Our summer camp directors are always seeking adults to be counselors. As our opportunities expand we will need a variety of adults with different skills to make this opportunities a reality. The other major need is funding. Click here to review the sponsorship opportunities for 2015.
Thanks for Supporting CYYA Ministries.
