(4/5/14) Zoo Day Fantastic, Warm, and Fun
Three congregations attended Disciples Families Zoo Day in Oklahoma City. FCC Sulphur, FCC Perry, and FCC Cyril enjoyed the day together and lunch. Beautiful weather blessed the day. The Children's Team of CYYA organized the day and Kathy Standridge lead during the meal time. Come to the Tulsa Zoo in the fall.
"Just the" . . . Ministers
by Rev. Olivia Bryan Updegrove
JUST… the “insert title” Minister,
Many of the most talented colleagues I encounter begin with this statement. They describe themselves as “just the associate,” “just the children,” “just the youth,” minister. I, myself, have demeaned my own position by making similar statements. I have limited my own ministry and importance because I have become, at times, a part of the standard paradigm that is killing the faith formation of the church. Click here to read more.
(2/15/14) Mission Enid Registration is OPEN! Visit the website to learn more and register your group. Mission Enid is open to Chi Rho (grades 6-8) and CYF (grades 9-12) youth groups.
(1/28/14) The Congregation Camp Registration Packet Is Available for Download
It happened! The Congregational Camp Registraiton Packet is ready for you to download and read, cover to cover, to prepare for camp registration that opens on Feb. 3. We suggest that each congregation choose a person, youth sponsor, youth director, youth minister, adult volunteer, or minister to be the point person for camp registration. This packet will help you learn the steps to registering for camp. Registration will open Online on this page at noon on Feb. 3. Click here to download the Congregational Camp Registraiton Packet.
Counselor Registration IS OPEN! Camp Directors are beginning the work of recruiting camp counselors for this summer. If you volunteered in 2013 or 2012 you do not need to complete the Counselor Application process. If you are a new counselor this year OR have not volunteered since 2011, we need you to complete the Counselor Application process. Click here to begin. The Region cannot offer summer camp without adult volunteers. It takes at least 100 adult volunteers to make the summer camp progarm possible.

Partnership Summer Camp Experiences 2014
The Region partners with congregations and areas that offer these summer experiences. Sometimes the Region provides curriculum, modest funding, promotion, and equipment based on need.

Ministry: Children, Youth, Young Adults
Your generous gifts to the Disciples Mission Fund or the Annual Fund help the Region connect congregations, but they do not underwrite the program ministries offered by the Region. DMF Funding and Annual Fund giving underwrites the operation of the Region (Disciples Center, staff salaries, benefits, and expenses, the Board and Commission work), but does not provide money for sponsoring the many events, retreats, and experiences of the program ministries offered by the Region. Please consider a gift or any size to support CYYA Ministries.
Each young person attending a summer ministry experience helps pay for the adult volunteers for that week. This fee is added to the campe fee and is based on the number of campers that attend and the number of adults needed. Funds raised for Summer Ministry could lower the cost for everyone that attends a camp in the future no matter where it may be hosted. Please consider a gift to support Summer Ministry and help us create funding to support this ongoing program ministry of the Region.
Are you considering a "legacy gift" to fund a ministry in your congregation or through the Region? The Oklahoma Disciples Foundation does this kind of work to support ministries throughout the Disciples of Christ in Oklahoma.
Make your check to Christian Church in Oklahoma and note in the memo line what program ministry you are supporting.
Mail To: 301 NW 36th Street / Oklahoma City, OK, 73118. Please indicate IAS, Youth Ministry, Children's Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, or Summer Ministry in the memo line.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! Contact Rev. Michael Davison for more information about how you can support these missional ministries.
