THE PROGRAM OF STUDY

The Program consists of eight required courses and a Stole Camp.*

  • Introduction to Old Testament
  • Introduction to New Testament
  • Introduction to Church History
  • Introduction to Preaching
  • Introduction to Pastoral Care and Counseling
  • Introduction to Theology
  • Introduction to Christian Education
  • Introduction to Church Polity and Church Administration
  • Stole Camp (conducting baptisms, weddings, funerals, communion)
  • Introduction to Worship
  • *The Oklahoma Region also requires completion of the Sexual Ethics seminar.
With the exception of Stole Camp, each of the eight courses is available in any one of four quarters (Winter -- December to February; Spring -- March to May; Summer -- June to August; and Fall -- September to November).   Following individual preparation, each course concludes with a mandatory one or two?day seminar scheduled at the end of the applicable quarter.   Stole Camp is held once each year.

As the Program design relies heavily on individual preparation, mentoring is vital.   Each candidate must acquire the assistance of at least one experienced minister who will coach, teach, encourage, guide, and clarify issues through each phase of the Program.   The mentor must be approved by the Training Board and attend a mentor orientation.

Transfer Credit can be given for related college level courses of study.

A candidate remains actively enrolled in the Program by completing two quarters a year, starting from the date of enrollment.   Using all four quarters, a candidate can complete the Program in two years.
