Disciple Women

DISCIPLES WOMEN’S PREVIEW

PREVIEW is an event for Oklahoma Disciples Women/Christian Women Fellowship groups in local churches.   Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for introducing the coming year’s study material, giving leadership training and providing fellowship to those attending as well as a dynamic worship experience.   PREVIEW has been, in recent years, held in at least three locations across the Region.   In 2006 PREVIEWS were held at First Christian Church, Nash, Tulsa Forest Park Christian Church, Tulsa and First Christian Church, Moore.   The total registration for 2006 was 173 persons.   In 2007 PREVIEW was held at First Christian Church, Hennessey, First Christian Church, Chandler and First Christian Church, Lawton with total registration being 189 persons.   At each PREVIEW location there are usually 10-13 team members leading in various capacities.

2007 locations were moved further south than they had been in the last 8-9 years so that perhaps attendance might improve or, at least women of the SE and SW Areas might have a more convenient chance to attend a PREVIEW.   We have been successful in meeting these goals this year and consequently 54 of our 175 congregations were represented in the registration with 8 churches providing team members. In 2006, 50 churches were represented.   Evaluations, again, have been most positive and there is enthusiasm and energy among our women to continue with all our varied ministries.

Other Disciples Women events planned for 2007 are: Mount Sequoyah Mission Conference - June 3-6 in Fayetteville, Arkansas; ENCOUNTER 2007 - June 23-25 at First Christian Church, Norman, OK; General Assembly - July 21-15 in Ft Worth, TX; ROSES Women’s Event - Sept 7-9 at The Governor’s Suites in Oklahoma City; three retreats – Texoma Women - Sept 28-30 at Texoma Christian Camp; Northwest Area Women - Sept 28-30 at Central Christian Camp; and Northeast Area Women - Oct 5-6 at Camp Christian. Information about these events can be found either elsewhere in this publication or on our Regional Disciples Women web site which can be accessed at www.okdisciples.org/women/women.html. -- Rev.
