Living Through The Cross
"The Gift of Healing"March 3, 2008
|
Please read: John 4: 43-54This scripture reminds me of the gift of health. As I walk on the path of my life’s journey, I see an ever- increasing number of family, friends, and acquaintances, dealing with health issues – some, very serious. As long as I can remember, health has been very important to me. I believe much of this feeling originated as a result of an ordeal I went through as a little girl; I developed a spinal tumor. My parents, as well as our physician did not know for quite a while what was wrong, and when they did find out, it was a very serious situation.
I remember my very spiritual mother, saying prayers with me, and asking GOD for healing. I did not know for a while that after the tumor was removed, she had donated part of her pelvis, which was put in my spine. The memories have sustained me often, especially since her death.
We live in a world where there are many different kinds of health issues; some are due to a spiritual pain, others as a result of lifestyle behaviors; still others are a result of genetics. As we enter a new Lenten Season, let us ask God for HIS gift of healing.
Prayer: Help us Lord to appreciate our health and remember how precious it is; help guide us along your path. Amen
