Living Through The Cross

"Learning From Loss"

February 25, 2008

Please read: Psalm 15
“O Lord, who may abide in your tent? Who may dwell on your holy hill? Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right and speak the truth from their heart…Those who do these things shall never be moved.” Psalm 15:1-2,5b (NRSV)

I am writing this Lenten meditation a few days after Christmas.   My dear brother died on Christmas Eve, and my heart has been in turmoil as I try to celebrate Christ’s birth while mourning my loss. How good it is to come to the grown-up Jesus in this quietness of prayer.   How good to remember that our savior was no stranger to pain and death.

Oh, how I needed the reassurance of this scripture today!

Oh, how I need to be reminded that I abide with you in your own tent!

Prayer: Risen Lord, keep me mindful as I look toward Easter that your love is stronger than death.   Prepare me to receive the new life you have bought for me.   Amen
