Living Through The Cross

"Every Morning is Easter Morning"

February 24, 2008 -- Third Sunday in Lent

Please read: Psalm 95
“O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!”
Psalm 95:1-2 (NRSV)

The stained glass resurrection window at First Christian Church in Lyons, Kansas reminds me of the words of the Avery and Marsh song “Every Morning is Easter Morning.”   Yes, indeed, every morning is a beginning for new opportunities, new thoughts, new projects, new anything!   Welcome every day as if it were Easter Morning!   Make each day meaningful by “making music!”   Music is a combination of sound and silence.

An Episcopalian friend of mine always “gives up” her favorite food for Lent - that would be ice cream.   One year I challenged her “to take on” something new for Lent, she found that it was easier to “take on” than to “give up.”   The intentional change became a true commitment which also increased her daily prayer time.   She continues to give up her ice cream, as well as find something new each year “to take on!”   Why not consider a change in your life?   Why not rejoice that “Every Morning is Easter Morning from now on?”

Prayer: Dear God, help me to spend some of every day making joyful noises and finding new things!   Amen
