Living Through The Cross "Trusting God" February 21, 2008

Many people attempt to win our trust.   From political candidates seeking our vote, to sales and marketing professionals attempting to win our loyalty to their products, we are bombarded with these manipulative messages of trust.

Jeremiah reminds us that people of faith are to put their trust in the Lord.   Only God is worthy of our trust.   Only God is capable of blessing our lives in ways that really matter.   Only God is faithful to us forever.   Just like a tree planted by the water with roots reaching deeply into the earth, we must deepen our faith through study and prayer.   When The Word lives within us, we can withstand the burdens of the day.

We know that people may disappoint us, but God never will.   We are refreshed by the Spirit’s whisper in our heart.   We are renewed by God’s abundant blessing in our lives.   We are redeemed by the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross.   We are truly Blessed!

Prayer: O God of Hope, hear our prayer.   May this Lenten Season give us the opportunity to focus on your eternal love for all.   May our hearts be filled with confidence.   May our lives reflect the everlasting nature of your sacred head, now wounded for us.   Amen
