Living Through The Cross

"Assurance in the Worst of Times"

February 17, 2008

Please read: Psalm 121
“The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” Psalm 121:8 (NKJV)

There is a sign along an Alaskan highway that reads, “Choose your rut carefully. You'll be in it for the next 150 miles.” Sometimes we feel like we are in that rut.

So often we feel like we are going through the “worst of times” over and over again. But the psalmist reminds us that we don't go through it alone. We are reminded in Psalm 121 that God is our helper, our keeper, our protector, and our preserver.

Jesus gave His all for us as He went to that Cross of Calvary. He sent His Holy Spirit to be with us in those “worst of times,” to be all those things the psalmist tells us He is:
Our helper in times of need.
Our keeper, reminding us that He never sleeps or slumbers.
Our protector when life throws us things we just can't seem to handle.
Our preserver from all evil, preserving our souls to that day of ultimate redemption.

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for sending your Son to pay the debt we could not pay. For giving us the assurance that you care so much for us that you are always here for our every need. Thank you for pulling us from the ruts of life and being our helper-keeper-protector-preserver. In His blessed name, Amen
