Living Through The Cross
"Another Sleepless Night"February 16, 2008
|
Please read: Psalm 119: 44-56All the causes of sleepless nights, anxiety, stress, lurking danger, difficult decisions, illness or physical discomfort, whatever the cause, Jesus, in his unique humanness, experienced every emotion. That "bear in the closet" becomes exaggerated in the night and as Jesus comes closer to Jerusalem and closer to his physical dangers we read of His sleepless night in the garden. Just as Jesus went to His Father in prayer for comfort and assurance in the face of what He knew tomorrow might hold, we have His name to call upon knowing He is ready to be there as a friend, counselor, guide. Jesus is there if we open our hearts to Him. His teachings and laws have been proven time and again and still hold true. That gift has been given to us by those who have gone before. Then the songs come because they are written on the heart. In the morning, in the evening and wherever we may be that song, that name, Jesus, is there for the asking.
Prayer: God of eternity, let me never forget the songs of courage and comfort Jesus has given so freely. Help me to share the everlasting song that Jesus is the way, the light to life and the friend to call upon in the dark of a sleepless night. Amen
