Living Through The Cross

"Fool for God"

February 14, 2008

Please read: I Corinthians 2:14-3:15
“The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, for they are spiritually discerned.” I Corinthians 2:14 (NIV)

I am no fool.   Yet I do foolish things.   And, because I do foolish things, I have learned not to trust my own wisdom.   Instead, I have learned that Godly wisdom is the best source of guidance in life.   Sometimes wisdom whispers like a zephyr.   At other times, the Lord speaks with the firm hand through the pressure of circumstances.   Whatever method of communication, once I perceive His voice, I have learned to sit, be still, and wait before the Lord.   Sitting still and waiting, however, is a mighty struggle for me.   The flesh in me always demands action and control.   A quick fix…NOW!!

But there are seldom quick fixes.   Communication with the lord requires spiritual tenacity.   The Lord speaks.   I listen.   I test the spirits.   Not every voice I hear comes from Yahweh.   Sometimes I get it right.   Sometimes I get it wrong.   But, I don’t give up. And, as I become less, and God becomes more, my spiritual discernment grows.   People of this world have no understanding of what I seek. If they cannot see it or touch it then, it is suspect.   It is foolishness.   They do not understand.   I seek The Eternal.   I am no fool.   Are you?

Prayer: Abba, may we always be fools for you! Amen
